Law Enforcement Practices You Might Not Know : Sugar babies and escorts

dancinginlosangeles

1. Officers will bait you to talk about sex. No, this is not entrapment on their part and they are allowed to do it.

2. They will contact you again if you flaked on an appointment or denied them all together.

3. They may stand you up on an appointment and contact you later.

4. They will get completely naked. They may even take a shower.

5. They will set up fake businesses.

6. They will let you massage and touch them, but most likely not in the genital area.

You have a website or ad where information regarding money is posted. You have not asked for money in person because you looked for it to be laid out.

If you get caught: The common bail for solicitation is $1k. It could be more or less depending on your location. This should be stashed away in an emergency fund. No matter what the charge, hire a lawyer. They can often reduce the charge to a misdemeanor such as loitering or running a business without a license. It is well worth your time to get assistance in the matter. Credit: The Courtesan Handbook

If you bring up money with the officer, it is solicitation. This is why negotiating “allowance” is more dangerous than escorting when it comes to legal ramifications.

In certain states it’s even accepted practice for the police to go through with the entire appointment, including having sex, and then arrest you.

Anonymous asked:

What do you think is the issue with the chemical imbalance theory?

gothhabiba answered:

the idea that mental illnesses are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain 1) ignores how the idea of “mental illness” (& therefore, in contrast, the existence of a “normative,” healthy brain) is constructed by empire and capital; 2) ignores how, while everything in the brain is neurologically instantiated, that neurology doesn’t say anything about causation (i.e. sure, low seratonin levels correspond with depressed mood, but what causes lower seratonin levels can’t just be chalked up to some kind of genetic or biological freak; and 3), relatedly, ignores how capitalism itself creates & reinforces ideas and standards of living that cause mental suffering

basically, the idea of “mental illness” as we understand it in the West / under capitalism is constructed and not inherent; the categories & boundaries of specific mental illnesses are similarly constructed in ways that serve the interests of capital and empire (bc people who can’t work are parsed as non-normative, & “recovery” is centred around people being able to work); and the conditions of capital and empire, in turn, create some of the mental suffering that capital parses as “mental illness.” the biomedical view of mental illness as chemical imbalance is also something constructed by capital in order to normalise (and therefore depoliticise) all of this

here’s a post that goes into this more; my explanation / breakdown of that post; another post about this; and an example of how mental illness can be understood as a Western phenomenon

Just your daily reminders:

  • Racists are a problem
  • White people are not
  • Homophobes are a problem
  • Straight people are not
  • Transphobes are a problem
  • Cis people are not
  • Sexists are a problem
  • Men are not

And most importantly,

  • Hating an innocent person solely because of their race, sexuality, or gender makes you a fucking asshole
thepageofhopes

Just some actual daily reminders:

  • All white people do racist things without being aware they are
  • All straight people do homophobic things without being aware that they are.
  • All Cis people do transphobic things without being aware that they are.
  • All men do sexist things without being aware that they are.
  • Saying things like ‘some men’, ‘some cis people’ absolves the blame of individuals and only seeks to comfort those with privilege and power.
  • When a post says ‘some X’, the X will always assume that they are not because THEY ARE NOT AWARE.

And most importantly,

  • It’s called metonymy, when anyone who is oppressed makes an exasperated statement like ‘i hate straight people’, they are substituting straight people for the concept of a system and a culture that teaches, incentives, and legitimizes homophobic acts and normalizes homophobic acts so that straight people constantly do honophobic things without realizing it and that’s really fucking annoying.

And just as important,

  • The concept of sjws dehumanizes marginalized people and categorizes them as an ‘angry and emotional’ stereotype and only adds to the oppression of marginalized people under the guise of being ‘fair’, while the only thing you are doing is cushioning privileged people from their own ignorance and privilege.
